Capello’s job not in danger, says Triesman
August 23rd, 2008
True, he hasn’t done that well by his new English team. But if officials are to be trusted, football boss Fabio Capello isn’t going anywhere, and his job isn’t in jeopardy.
Nor will it be affected by the departure of the Football Association’s chief executive Brian Barwick, who was the one really behind appointing Capello as head of the English national team. Capello was assured by chairman Lord Triesman that his job isn’t in danger despite Barwick’s leaving.
That said members of the board would like a replacement for Barwick added swiftly.
Hopefully this isn’t just some diplomatic response to the obvious question of whether or not Capello will see the hard end of a boot. He’s not done all that spectacularly as coach - though whether he can be blamed for that or not is up to the eye of the beholder.
